Smith was named National Player of the Year by several websites following his senior season when he averaged 20.6 points and 5.1 assists per game. A first team All-American as a senior, Smith was named ACC Player of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP. A two-time All-ACC selection, Smith ranks 17th on Duke’s all-time scoring list with 1,911 points, seventh in games played (143) and ninth in career free throw percentage (.800). He was part of a senior class that compiled a school record for home victories and home winning percentage with a 65-2 (.970) record in four seasons. Smith was named to the NCAA All-Final Four team after averaging 16.0 points and 5.0 assists per game in wins over West Virginia and Butler during the 2010 national title run. He scored 764 points in his senior season which ranks as the ninth-highest single season total at Duke. Smith was taken with the 21st overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2011 NBA Draft.
