Bid on Throwback Football Jersey #47
If you're a bargain shopper who likes quality at a reasonable price, the Huskers.com Auction site has something for you - 1962 throwback football jerseys that would make ideal holiday gifts for that discerning Nebraska football fan who seems to have everything.
That's right. Huskers.com saved 12 Husker football jerseys from the original order of throwback uniforms to commemorate Nebraska's 300th consecutive sellout last Sept. 26th against Louisiana-Lafayette.
These are the exact same jerseys that drew record bids in Huskers.com auctions early last fall.
"The only difference is, these jerseys were not worn in that historic game. Still, they are one-of-a-kind," said Michael Stephens, NU's Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Licensing and Concessions.
"We decided to save these non-game-worn jerseys, so we could auction them off later," Stephens said. "We decided the best time to do it was when people are looking for that can't-miss holiday gift."
The first six jersey numbers up for auction, selected randomly, are Nos. 48, 59, 16, 49, 41 and 47.
Opening bids for all six jerseys will begin at $200 with minimum incremental bids of $25 each. Bidding for No. 48 will end at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18. The auction for No. 59 will end at 2:15 p.m. the same day, followed by 2:30 p.m. for No. 16, 2:45 p.m. for No. 49, 3:00 p.m. for No. 41 and 3:15 p.m. for No. 47.
Stephens said the certificate of authenticity will acknowledge that each jersey was included in the original University of Nebraska Athletic Department order to help commemorate the historic 300th consecutive sellout.
Auctions for the final six authentic replica jerseys will begin on Thursday, Dec. 17 and end on Tuesday, Dec. 22, allowing successful bidders enough time to acknowledge in a card what they are giving - or receiving - as a holiday gift.
** A $10 shipping fee will be added to the winning bid.
** Funds generated from this auction will directly benefit the student-athletes within The University of Nebraska Department of Athletics.
