The Sugar Bowl returned to New Orleans with a Cajun-style party, as quarterback JaMarcus Russell's #4 LSU Tigers dominated Heisman candidate Brady Quinn and the storied #11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 41-14.
After a one-year stint in Atlanta due to massive damage at the Louisiana Superdome caused by Hurricane Katrina, the 2007 Allstate Sugar Bowl represented another step forward in New Orleans' rebuilding effort. After the game, with trophy in hand, LSU coach Les Miles acknowledged the crowd by announcing 'There's no place we'd rather play than in this city.' Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan said the electricity and excitement surging through the Superdome on this night reminded him of when LSU beat Oklahoma to win the 2003 national championship.
Russell was unanimously voted as the game's Most Outstanding Player, passed for 332 yards and 2 touchdowns, and rushed for another. Freshman running back Keiland Williams, who ran for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns, and the feared LSU defense joined Russell in taking control of the game.
The official FOX Sports/BCS Sugar Bowl DVD includes the commercial-free game as well as special bonus features and is a great edition to any football fan's collection.
