Charlotte, NC –  The Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer team, who are ranked 23rd in the preseason NSCAA/Continental Tire Coaches Poll, will hold a Fan Appreciation Night and Green-White Scrimmage this Saturday, August 16 at 7 pm at Transamerica Field.

The first 100 fans to the game will receive free pizza and a 49ers scarf.

Saturday night will be a time that fans will be able to get their first look at the 2014 Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team. The team will scrimmage. Following the scrimmage, fans will be able to meet the players and get autographs.

The 49ers begin practicing for the 2014 season on Tuesday, August 12.

Charlotte returns 15 letterwinners from last season’s Conference USA Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament participant squad. The 49ers recorded a 12-6-3 record last season.

Kevin Langan, who is entering his third season as head coach, welcomes back stalwarts Kyle Parker, Luke Waechter, Brandt Bronico, David Mayer, Robby Thomas and Biko Bradnock-Brennan. Parker was a preseason All-Conference USA selection. Parker, who earned third-team All-Conference USA honors, shared the Conference USA Golden Boot Award last season. Waechter and Bronico earned Conference USA All-Freshman team honors.

Charlotte also returns mainstays Nick Barnhorst, Dominic Bonilla, Hans Honer and Monbo Bokar.

Charlotte begins the 2014 season with an exhibition game on the road at UNC Asheville, August 20. The 49ers begin the regular-season at Transamerica Field against Radford, August 31.
