Kim Whitestone has been with the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Department since 1990, steadily moving up within the department from her first role as a marketing intern to her current position as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman’s Administrator.

Whitestone has been a key to the 49ers substantial growth since her arrival in Charlotte.  She has held many duties in the department including marketing, compliance, Assistant AD and Associate. Currently, she coordinates the department’s annual plan and assessment documents and supervises nine sports as well as the athletic training and strength and conditioning staffs.

In addition, with her ability to bring various groups together to work towards a common goal, she has served as Tournament Manager or Operations Coordinator for any number events hosted by the 49ers, including the NCAA Men’s Basketball First, Second and Third Rounds and Regionals that have come to Charlotte five times, the 1999 and 2000 NCAA Men’s Soccer College Cups, the 1996 NCAA Women’s Final Four and many league championships.

She was instrumental in the start-up of 49ers football, working behind the scenes with the campus-wide organizational committees that planned and executed a successful inaugural season for the Charlotte 49ers football program, as well as served as the department’s liaison with the construction team to build the $45M stadium in less than 24 months.

A proud graduate of Jacksonville University, where she played volleyball, she and her husband Tom have two children, Sammy and Allie, and live in Harrisburg, N.C.
