Tulsa, Okla.- Charlotte breezed through the first round of competition at the 2014 Conference USA Men's Tennis tournament winning the opening round contest 4-0 over Florida Atlantic on Thursday afternoon.

Charlotte (13-6), the No. 6 seed, picked up the doubles point grabbing wins at the No.1 and No. 3 spots.  Alex Calott and Paul Cisti defeated FAU's Sean Bacha and Stefen Burnett at No. 3 doubles 8-1.  

Kamil Khalil and Jordi Massalle Ferrer picked up the doubles point with an 8-5 victory over Will Neuner and Andrei M-Kougoucheff.

Charlotte picked up three singles wins to claim the victory and advance to the second round of the Conference USA tournament.  No. 4 Alex Calott (20-11) finished first for the Niners in singles action defeating Bacha easily 6-0, 6-1.  

No. 6 Paul Cisti (16-12) took the victory for the Niners defeating Gerald Nickerson 6-2, 6-3.

Jordi Massalle Ferrer (21-6) grabbed the decisive victory for the Niners with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Richard Meade.

Charlotte will square off with East Carolina at 10am on Friday.  The Niners were scheduled to play the Pirates March 29 in Charleston, S.C. but it was cancelled due to weather.
