Charlotte, N.C.- Charlotte 49ers Softball looks to continue the hot streak, winning four of the previous five games, as the Niners take a step out of Conference USA play to take on the Furman Paladins in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon in Greenville, S.C.

Charlotte comes into the 57th meeting with a 15-16 record with the Paladins slightly better at 20-18.

The Niners took two of three in the C-USA series against UTSA over the weekend with the help of Lexi Betancourt in the circle picking up both wins.  Betancourt and the Niners posted a 2-0 shutout in game one of the series before falling in game two 12-2 for the only loss in the past five games.  Charlotte rebounded in the series finale 5-3 after falling behind 3-2 heading to the top of the seventh.

Samantha Slade continues to lead the Niners at the plate hitting .368 with seven doubles, seven home runs and 22 RBI.  Slade will look to snap out of a funk tallying one RBI in the previous 10 games.

Jackie Kleinsmith is on a tear hitting .389 the past five games picking up two doubles, a home run and eight RBI.  Kleinsmith is hitting .347 on the season and tallied a team leading 27 RBI.  The junior catcher picked up the winning RBI in the win over Carolina, both RBI in the win over UTSA in game one and two RBI in the top of the seventh in the series finale against UTSA.

Lexi Betancourt will take the circle in game one to start the doubleheader posting a 14-8 record and a 2.25 ERA.  Betancourt has won five straight decisions going 3-0 last week.  The righty has posted a 1.44 ERA with 24 strikeouts with a 4-0 clip in the past five games. 

Charlotte trails in the series against Furman with a 24-32 record.  The Niners have picked up three straight wins in Greenville, S.C., picking up the doubleheader sweep in the last meeting in Greenville, March 15, 2012.
