CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The rollercoaster ride between the Charlotte 49ers baseball team and Mother Nature will unfortunately continue this weekend against East Carolina. Due to a 70% chance of showers on Sunday, the Pirates and 49ers will now play a Saturday doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m. to make sure the entire Conference USA weekend schedule is completed.

This will mark Charlotte and East Carolina’s third-straight weekend with a Saturday doubleheader. The Niners have yet to play a true Friday, Saturday, Sunday weekend series as both the FIU and Middle Tennessee sets featured Saturday double dips due to weather. This becomes Charlotte's 10th game of 2014 already affected by Mother Nature. ECU had to alter its home schedules with Marshall and Tulane over the last two weeks.

Friday’s night’s series-opener is still slated for 6:00 p.m. as Charlotte sends RHP Corey Roberts (0-2, 4.12) to the mound opposite RHP Jeff Hoffman (0-3, 4.56) for East Carolina. Game one at 2:00 p.m. Saturday will see RHP Ryan Butler (1-2, 3.38) toe the rubber for the Niners while the Pirates will counter with LHP Reid Love (1-1, 1.57). RHP Brock Hudgens (0-2, 3.58) is tabbed to start game two for Charlotte with ECU is still TBA.
