Charlotte, N.C. – Charlotte (3-1) cruised past Belmont Abbey (0-5), 7-0, at home to remain undefeated at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex this season.

"Today's win was a total team effort,” Charlotte coach Billy Boykin said.  “I thought that Francis Pare and Alex Weber led the way out there for us in doubles — they played really well to close out the match.  In singles, I thought we performed pretty consistently down the line.  We'll be back out on the practice courts tomorrow in anticipation for our match on Saturday with The Citadel."

Charlotte won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte’s Weber and Pare defeated Belmont Abbey’s Connor McMann and Eduardo Escobar, 8-6. At number two doubles, Charlotte’s Kamil Khalil and Jordi Massalle Ferrer defeated Belmont Abbey’s Idris Moya and Damien Nelson, 8-0. At number three doubles, Charlotte’s Nate Shanok and Carl Solik defeated Belmont Abbey’s Aaron Mullenix and Jacob Melton, 8-1.

Charlotte won all six singles matches to claim the 7-0 victory over Belmont Abbey. At number one singles. Charlotte’s Forrest Edwards defeated Belmont Abbey’s Escobar, 6-0, 6-0. At number two singles, Charlotte’s jack Williams defeated Belmont Abbey’s McMann, 6-3, 7-6. At number three singles, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer defeated Belmont Abbey’s Nelson, 6-0, 6-0. At number four singles, Charlotte’s Alex Calott defeated Belmont Abbey’s Mullenix, 6-0, 6-0. At number five singles, Charlotte’s Paul Cisti defeated Belmont Abbey’s Melton, 6-0, 6-0. At number six singles, Charlotte’s Nate Shanok won his match by default.

Charlotte returns to action when they play The Citadel at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex this Saturday, February 22 at 8:30 am.
