The Charlotte 49ers men’s tennis team plays Gardner-Webb in their home opening match at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex, Wednesday, February 5 at 2 pm.

“We're looking forward to the match with Gardner-Webb tomorrow,” said Charlotte coach Billy Boykin, who is in his fourth season as the helm of the 49ers men’s tennis program. “Our guys have been practicing hard and are ready to compete.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.”

This season, Forrest Edwards leads the team in singles and in doubles with 13 singles wins and six doubles victories with partner Jack Williams. Alex Calott has won 10 singles matches and then teamed with Carl Solik for five doubles wins. Jordi Massalle Ferrer has won 10 singles matches. Williams and Francis Pare have each tallied six singles victories.

Charlotte lost to Gardner-Webb on the road in their last meeting, 5-2, February 20, 2013. Massalle Ferrer and Paul Cisti captured singles victories in that match. Kamil Khalil and former Niner Krysztof Kwasniewicz teamed up for a victory at number one doubles.
