Birmingham, Ala.- The Charlotte 49ers track team wrap up its first meet of the indoor season at the UAB Blazer Invitational. 

“Much like Friday, we had some solid performances on which to build and finding a baseline for this new schedule dynamic with this being our very first meet,” said Coach Robert Olesen.

T'Sheila Mungo placed seventh overall with a 56.41 in the 400 meter event.  Qualifiers Juanita Leto and LeRoy Rouse finished eighth in the 60 meter hurdles and 60 meter dash respectively.  Rouse ran a 6.95 in the finals.

Anthony Bynum finished fifth overall in the 200 meter with a time of 21.73.  Teammate John Osborne placed ninth overall with a 21.98 200 meter time. 

In the field events, Kerrick Williams had a throw of 15.63 m (51’ 3.5) for a fifth place finish in the shot put event.  Lauren Gulley finished tied for tenth in the women’s high jump clearing 1.64m (5’ 4.5).  Briauna Jones placed 16th in the long jump with a leap of 5.67m (18’ 7.25).

The 49ers track team heads to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the JDL Sunday All-Comers tomorrow, Sunday.  The JDL meet will feature: 60 meter hurdles, 60 meter dash, 400m, 800m, 200m, and field events.  Admission is free for the event.  The meet will start at 12 pm.
