Charlotte, N.C.- The Charlotte 49ers men’s tennis program opens the 2014 spring season tomorrow, January 11, against #19 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
"Wake Forest is a very talented team and will be a good early test for our squad. We're looking forward to a challenging match," said Coach Billy Boykin.
The 49ers are led by three double-figure singles winners in Alex Calott, Forrest Edwards, and Jordi Massalle Ferrer. Edwards won a team-high 13 singles this fall followed by Calott and Massalle Ferrer with 10 apiece.
The Niners played all of its matches in tournaments competing in the Southern Intercollegiates, Jim Causey Invitational, Wake Forest Invitational and hosting the 49ers Invitational before wrapping up the fall season at the ITA Regionals.
This is the first match of the season before taking a few weeks off before hosting Mercer and Gardner-Webb in early February. Charlotte will take the court at 6 pm.
