CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte women’s basketball will make its return to Halton Arena after a two-week, three-game break, when it plays host to UCF at 7 p.m. Saturday. The 49ers have not played inside their friendly confines of the venue since the season opener, Nov. 8, in a win over Liberty.

Charlotte has dropped its last three, falling to 1-3 on the season, entering Saturday’s contest. Each of the three contests sent the squad across the country for road games – at Kansas State, Minnesota and FGCU within a 10-day span.

Despite the setbacks, a number of individual milestones were achieved with career-high scoring outputs from the majority of the roster as different players contributed mightily each time out. Most recently at FGCU Wednesday, senior Ny Hammonds reached the 20-point mark for the second time in her career with a game-best 20 points. Junior Ayanna Holmes added a career-high 16 points, while sophomore Kira Gordon nearly had a double-double with nine points and a career-best 10 rebounds to lead all players on the glass.

Hammonds (11.0 ppg) and Holmes (10.5) are the top two scorers through the first four games, while sophomore Alexis Alexander (6.3 rpg) and redshirt junior Gabby Tyler (5.0) pace the efforts on the boards.

UCF brings a 4-0 mark into Saturday’s meeting, including a pair of road triumphs at Oakland and Georgia State. The Knights are off to their best start since 1984-85 when they opened 7-0.

Briahanna Jackson, who was named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference First Team, leads a trio of double-figure scorers with her 20.3 average. Joining her is Sara Djassi (13.8 ppg) and Zykira Lewis (13.0).

Djassi tops the squad with her 7.8 rebounds per game average, edging out Stephanie Taylor’s 7.5 and Brittni Montgomery’s 7.3, respectively.

Charlotte won last year’s meeting, 62-59, Nov. 28, 2012, in Orlando to even the series at two games apiece. Three of the previous four matchups have been played in Orlando with the lone exception coming Nov. 25, 1995, at the UA Sheraton Capstone Inn Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Saturday’s contest will be the first played in the Queen City.

Live video with Josh Feldman handling play-by-play duties will be available on, as will a link to live stats. Updates can also be found on Twitter by following @49erGameDay.

Saturday’s game will also be Camper Reunion Night, as all campers who attended the women’s basketball summer camps will get in free by wearing their camp t-shirt. Each camper was sent a concessions coupon and selected campers were selected as The Starting Five to receive autographed basketballs from the 49ers starters during introductions.
