KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Charlotte women’s soccer was named as one of the recipients of the Team Academic Award, presented annually by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), for the 2012-13 academic year.

In order to qualify for the honor, teams must have had a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 for the entire academic calendar year.

The 49ers have been presented with the NSCAA Team Academic Award for five-straight seasons, amounting to each year under head coach John Cullen, and eight times in program history. Charlotte also received the accolade from 2002-04.

The Niners completed the 2013 campaign with an 11-7-2 record and winners of the Conference USA East Division before reaching the conference tournament semifinals. Charlotte loses four seniors and a graduating junior off this year’s squad but the majority of the roster is set to return in 2014 for its second season back in C-USA.

Thirteen schools in Conference USA were awarded for 2012-13 with the lone exceptions being Florida Atlantic, North Texas and Tulsa.
