The Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer team (8-5-3, C-USA: 3-3-2) puts their four-match winning streak on the line when they close out the regular-season on the road at Conference USA foe FIU (6-9-1, C-USA: 2-5-1), Friday, November 2 at 7 pm. The 49ers, who are hosting the Conference USA Tournament, next week, have already clinched a spot in the seven-team C-USA Tournament.

The 49ers have finished the regular-season with a win in each of the last three seasons.

Kyle Parker leads the team in goals with nine goals.  He has scored seven goals in the last six games. Giuseppe Gentile is second on the team with six goals. Aidan Kirkbride and Luke Waechter are tied for third on the team with three goals apiece. David Mayer leads the team with five assists. Will Mayhew is second on the team with four assists. Gentile, Waechter and Parker are tied for third on the team with three assists apiece. Tyler Gibson and Brandt Bronico have each tallied two goals and two assists.

The 49ers defense led by goalkeeper Klay Davis and defenders Waechter, Mayer, Thomas Allen, Anthony Perez, Nick Barnhorst and Biko Bradnock-Brennan have recorded eight shutouts this season.

Friday’s game will be the seventh meeting between Charlotte and FIU, who leads the all-time series, 5-1. The last meeting between the two teams was in the College Cup Semifinals, December 13, 1996 in Richmond, Virginia. FIU beat the 49ers 4-0 in that game. The 49ers only victory in the series came at home when the 49ers defeated FIU, 2-1, October 22, 1994.
