Charlotte, N.C.-  Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer senior goalkeeper Klay Davis picked up his third Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performances against FAU and Marshall.

Davis recorded a solo shutout on senior night in a 3-0 win over conference foe Marshall.  Davis and Nick Hensley combined for a shutout during a 6-0 win against Florida Atlantic.  The 49er keeper has played 171 minutes of action this past week without allowing a goal and saving seven shots.

The 49ers are on a four-game winning streak heading into their last regular season match-up against FIU in Miami, Fla.  This win streak came after a tough five-game stretch having four of those matches go to overtime or double overtime.

Charlotte has scored 13 goals during that stretch but has only allowed one goal, which was to #14 Clemson.  Klay Davis and the rest of the 49ers defense have recorded three shutouts in the last four games and eight this season.  Davis is second all-time in solo shutouts with 26.

The 49ers are hosting the 2013 C-USA men's soccer tournament starting Wednesday Nov. 13 through Sunday Nov. 17.
