CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women’s tennis team closes its fall tournament calendar this weekend by playing host to the 49er Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The Niners will welcome Coastal Carolina, Davidson and USC Upstate to town for the inaugural event.

The 49er Invitational is the second fall tournament hosted by the program, as it started the campaign with the Charlotte Invitational in which Campbell, East Carolina and UNC Greensboro participated.

Only five players have seen action this fall due to injuries with juniors Lisa Grosselius and Natsuko Takayanagi the lone representatives at last week’s ITA Carolinas Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Both players will be joined by sophomore Jessica Pérez and freshmen Briana Bodner and Macy Vonderschmidt this weekend as they had all season.

Charlotte will then open its spring dual match schedule after the new year, starting with a neutral-site contest with Radford January 24 in Davidson, N.C. The 49ers will compete in four Conference USA regular-season matches before the league tournament April 16-20 in Norfolk, Va., on the Old Dominion campus.
