CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women’s tennis team will be represented by its two juniors at this week’s ITA Carolinas Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C. Lisa Grosselius and Natsuko Takayanagi will compete for the 49ers in the event, which features players from schools in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Grosselius opens qualifying singles action at 9 a.m. Thursday against Western Carolina’s Shannon Bettiol in the round of 32. Should Grosselius advance, she will face the winner of Elon’s Barbora Lazarova and Campbell’s Tamara Stanic, a seeded player, at Noon Thursday.

Takayanagi also received one of the eight seeds for the round of 32. She will start qualifying singles play at 11:30 a.m. Thursday against Coastal Carolina’s Honami Yazawa with a potential matchup set for 2:30 p.m. against the Margaret Boyette of Furman and Taylor Casey of Elon victor.

The tournament marks the third of four fall events for the Charlotte women’s tennis program. The season concludes next weekend, Oct. 25-26, with the team playing host to the 49er Invitational and welcoming Coastal Carolina, Davidson and USC Upstate to the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
