Davidson, NC – The Charlotte 49ers men’s tennis team had a solid first day at the Jim Causey Invitational at Davidson College. The 49ers won five singles matches and six doubles matches.

In Flight One Singles, Charlotte’s Jack Williams lost to Appalachian State’s Seb King in three hard fought sets, 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.

In Flight Two Singles, Charlotte’s Forrest Edwards defeated Appalachian State’s Ollie Casey, 6-3, 6-1.

In Flight Three Singles, Charlotte’s Alex Calott defeated Appalachian State’s Zach Bost, 7-5, 6-4.

In Flight Four Singles, Charlotte’s Paul Cisti lost to Appalachian State’s Matt Saltsgarner, 6-3, 6-0.

In Flight Five Singles, Charlotte’s Jordi Massalle Ferrer defeated Appalachian State’s Rob Jenkins, 6-1, 6-1.

In Flight Six Singles, Charlotte’s Nate Shanok defeated Appalachian State’s JW Kleghans, 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.

In Flight Seven Singles, Charlotte’s Francis Pare defeated Appalachian State’s Lake, 6-4, 6-3.

In Flight Eight Singles, Charlotte’s Alex Weber defeated Appalachian State’s Eric Greene, 3-6, 7-5, 11-9.

In Flight One Doubles, Charlotte’s Williams and Edwards defeated Appalachian State’s Bost and King, 9-8. In other Flight One Doubles action, Williams and Edwards defeated Campbell’s Visser and Krone, 8-5.

In Flight Two Doubles, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer and Weber defeated Appalachian State’s In other Flight Two Doubles action, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer  and Weber defeated Campbell’s Guillen and Rossignon, 8-4.

In Flight Three Doubles, Charlotte’s Pare and Cisti lost to Appalachian State’s Casey and Jenkins, 8-1. In other Flight Three Doubles action, Cisti and Pare defeated Campbell’s Jones and van Gerwen, 9-8.

In Flight Four Doubles, Charlotte’s Carl Solik and Calott lost to Appalachian State’s Greene and Saltsgarner, 8-5. In other Flight Four Doubles action, Solik and Calott defeated Campbell’s Kaniewski and Roger, 6-3, before Campbell’s doubles team retired.

The 49ers conclude play in the Jim Causey Invitational, Saturday, October 5.
