After starting with a road swing to begin Conference USA play last weekend, Charlotte volleyball plays its first home conference matches, with Louisiana Tech and Tulane visiting Halton Arena this weekend. The Tech match is Friday night, starting at 7 p.m. and the 49ers take on Tulane Sunday at 1 p.m. Live stats and live video will be avavilable here at Charlotte49ers.com

Louisiana Tech is last in the league in kills and assists per set, next to late in attack percentage and digs per set. The Lady Techsters have one player in the Top Five in the individual statistics. Maria Coelho is second in C-USA in service aces per set, with 0.46, a total of 31 aces in 68 sets played.
Charlotte’s sophomore libero Michelle Hovey (Raleigh, N.C. / Lighthouse) is second in the league in digs per set to this point of the season, at 5.03, logging 307 in 61 sets played. She is just one of three players in C-USA over 300 digs and just one of two averaging better than five per set. Charlotte has never played Louisiana Tech in volleyball. The Lady Techsters and 49ers came to Conference USA from different leagues (Tech from the Sun Belt) so this will be the first meeting between the two. Charlotte and Tulane were conference mates from 1991-1994 as members of the Metro Conference, then Conference USA from 1995-2004. Charlotte is 5-11 all-time against the Green Wave, all five wins coming at home (5-2), with the last meeting in the C-USA Tournament in 2004. Tulane has never won two sets in a match in Charlotte, with the Niners sweeping four of the five home meetings.
Sunday’s match will have a post-game youth clinic. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children over two (students with University ID are free) and are available in person (8-5 on Friday and then at 6 p.m. on game day) or by calling the 49ers Ticket Office at (704) 687-4949.
