Each Wednesday through the women’s soccer season, two current members of the Charlotte 49ers will be featured in a short personality profile Q&A. Players were picked at random for the particular week but were presented the questions ahead of time.
This week’s 49er focus includes senior SarahAnn Waugh
and redshirt freshman Alex Weaver
. 1. What is your favorite pregame meal?
Waugh: Pick two from Panera, of course
Weaver: McAlister’s Deli 2. What is your pregame ritual?
Waugh: Listen to music in the locker room with the girls and writing my favorite verse and grandma’s initials on my wrist
Weaver: Listen to my iPod, text my mom I love her and make sure I have all my uniforms and gear 3. Who is your favorite musical artist?
Waugh: Rascal Flatts
Weaver: Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj 4. What one thing, off the field, can you do better than most?
Waugh: Being ambidextrous
Weaver: I can imitate people very well. Watch out! 5. What is one thing most people might not know about you?
Waugh: I was an eighth of an inch from dying when I was six because I was trying to ride a bike and play a recorder.
Weaver: I love sparkles and anything glittery. Anything that flashes out to me is my favorite. 6. What is your dream job?
Waugh: Anything that involves traveling the world.
Weaver: Special ed teacher. Special needs is my passion and I can’t wait to pursue it as a career. 7. What is your hometown famous for?
Waugh: Statesville is famous for a lot of things, including a balloon rally, home to Ryan Newman (NASCAR), home to astronaut Tom Marshburn and the filming of the movie Leatherheads with George Clooney.
Weaver: My hometown isn’t really famous for anything but D.C. is close to me and that’s pretty famous. 8. What do you believe it will take to have a successful season?
Waugh: All 26 players playing for each other, hard work and determination
Weaver: Teamwork. This is a team sport and me as well as everyone else has to be in this together to be successful. 9. What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
Waugh: Married, starting a family and hopefully having a job I love.
Weaver: Having a family and being a special ed teacher. 10. Who has been most influential in your life and why?
Waugh: My grandma. She was and has been my biggest fan and supporter.
Weaver: My mother. She is my rock and my inspiration to strive to be the best. 11. What is your favorite quote/saying?
Waugh: John 16:33: I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world. And “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination.” – Tommy Lasorda
Weaver: “Though she may be little, she is fierce.” – William Shakespeare 12. What is one food you will not try?
Waugh: Frog legs
Weaver: Snails. That is gross! 13. What is your favorite book?
Waugh: Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
Weaver: Not a book person but I do love the book holes. 14. What is one of your pet peeves?
Waugh: People being late!
Weaver: When people question me being a goalkeeper. Yes, I’m little but I’m still a goalkeeper. 15. What is another sport at Charlotte you would play if you had the chance?
Weaver: Basketball. I played it my whole life and I think it is such a fun sport!
