Charlotte 49ers junior men’s tennis player Forrest Edwards won an ITA Summer Circuit Event at Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, July 13-15. Edwards won five matches to win the Event.
Edwards, who transferred to Charlotte from Middle Tennessee last summer, won nine singles and nine doubles matches last season for the 49ers.
In the first round, Edwards defeated Joseph Daniels, 6-0, 6-0. Then, he defeated Jeffery Brown, 6-1, 6-1 in the second round. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Zach Wilder, 6-2, 6-1. In the semifinals, he rallied to defeat Steven Patrick in three hard fought sets, 4-6, 6-4 and 10-4. In the finals, he defeated Andrew Goodwin, 7-5, 7-5, to win the ITA Summer Circuit Event.
The ITA Summer Circuit is made up of nine regional circuits (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Mountain, Texas, Northern California and Southern California) consisting of four consecutive open tournaments played during the month of July.
