Athletic Highlights: In 2007, FAU won its first softball Sun Belt Conference championship by defeating Louisiana and became the second team to win the conference championship. Men’s basketball set an NCAA record in 1999 with 34 consecutive wins. In 2007, Florida Atlantic became the youngest football team in the country to receive a bid to a bowl game (New Orleans Bowl).
Noteworthy Accomplishments: FAU ranks as the most ethnically, racially and culturally diverse institution in the Florida State School System with 44 percent of the student body classified as a minority. In 2010, the U.S. Department of Energy designated FAU as one of three national centers for ocean energy research and development.
