CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior catcher Chelsea Ingersoll was selected as a member of the 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball First Team, announced on Thursday. Ingersoll is one of 12 players who make up District 3 which represents North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

The Charlotte native is a pre-biology major who has compiled a 3.61 cumulative grade point average. This season Ingersoll ranks 12th in the Atlantic 10 with a .352 batting average. She has a team-leading nine home runs and is tied for second on the team in hits (48).

Ingersoll also has a team-leading .466 on-base percentage. Additionally she Is batting .419 in conference play which ranks seventh in the A-10.

The 2013 Capital One Academic All‐District ® Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All‐America teams programs since 2011.

The Academic All‐District ® teams include the student‐athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

First‐team Academic All‐District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America® Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected later this month.
