CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Alvonna Blakney was named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Track and Field Rookie of the Week announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Blakney, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C., captured Women’s Rookie of the Week honors after recording a personal best time in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 14.00 at this past weekend’s Florida Relays.

Blakney also ran on the shuttle hurdle team that set a new school record with a time of 56.70. 

Additionally, she was on the 4x400m relay team that finished 27th with a time of 3:44.76 that is second in the A-10.

Charlotte is scheduled to compete at the N.C, A&T Aggie Invitational on Friday, April 12-13 and the Johnson C. Smith Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
