RICHMOND, VA – Behind singles and doubles wins by Kamil Khalil, Paul Cisti and Krzysztof Kwasniewicz, the Charlotte 49ers (11-7) defeated Atlantic 10 foe Richmond (10-10), 4-3, on the road. Khalil clinched the 49ers victory with a dramatic three set win at number three singles.
“Coming into this match we knew that it would take a good team effort,” said Charlotte coach Billy Boykin, who was Richmond’s head coach from 2008-10. “Richmond has a talented lineup featuring three very experienced seniors. We worked all week in preparation for this match, and though we didn’t play our best tennis, we competed very hard. Our doubles play continues to improve. We’ll turn our focus now to George Washington next Friday.”
