CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte track and field team will compete at the Virginia Invitational on Saturday, March 30 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The meet which is hosted by the University of Virginia is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with the women’s hammer. Jumping events will begin at noon and running events start at 1 p.m.

Teams participating in the meet include Charlotte, Georgetown, Kent State, Loyola MD, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, Robert Morris, and host UVA.

T'Sheila Mungo continues to be a force for the 49ers. Last weekend she made her collegiate debut in the 800m at the High Point VertKlasse Meeting, finishing first with a time of 2:10.19 that ranks 23rd in the nation. She opened the outdoor season running 53.65 in the 400m which remains tied sixth in the nation.

Charlotte has also seen stellar efforts from LeAnna Morrison who leads the 49ers in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and triple jump. Briauna Jones (100m and long jump) and Toby Jo Klauenberg (shot put and hammer throw) have also been at the forefront for the Niners.

The Niner men have also continued to perform well. Rookie Anthony Campbell earned the Atlantic 10 Men’s Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week after recording a first-place finish in the triple jump (48’02.75”) and a seventh-place finish in the long jump (21’08”). Campbell currently leads the team in the triple jump.

Isaac McReynolds earned the A-10 Men’s Track and Field Performer of the Week with first-place finishes in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.38) and the 4x100-meter relay (40.55) at the HPU VertKlasse Meeting. McReynolds has been the top performer in the 110m hurdles and high jump.

Khyran Shank (100m and 200m) and Jake Deaton (shot put and discus throw) have also been at the helm of their respective events.
