GREENVILLE, NC – Jordi Massalle Ferrer and Kamil Khalil won their respective singles matches, but the Charlotte 49ers (10-7) lost on the road at East Carolina (12-2), 5-2.

East Carolina won two doubles matches to capture the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer and Jack Williams lost to East Carolina’s Joran Vliegen and Colin Roller, 8-6. At number two doubles, Charlotte’s Khalil and Krzysztof Kwasniewicz lost to East Carolina’s Damien Brenard and John Schmitt, 8-6. At number three doubles, Charlotte’s Alex Calott and Nate Shanok did not finish their match with East Carolina’s Patriek Wolterbeek and Nicholas Soriano since East Carolina had already captured the doubles point.

East Carolina won four of the six singles matches to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte’s Williams lost to East Carolina’s Vliegen, 6-1, 6-4. At number two singles, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer won his 23rd singles match of the season with a 6-4, 6-2 win over East Carolina’s Schmitt. At number three singles, Charlotte’s Calott lost to East Carolina’s Soriano, 6-1, 6-4. At number four singles, Charlotte’s Khalil won his fifth straight match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over East Carolina’s Brenard. At number five singles, Charlotte’s Kwasniewicz lost to East Carolina’s Mario Martinez, 6-2, 6-2. At number six singles, Charlotte’s Shanok lost to East Carolina’s Roller, 6-2, 6-3.

Charlotte continues their five-match road swing when they play Appalachian State on the road, Tuesday, April 2 at 2 pm.
