CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore guard Pierriá Henry and freshman forward Willie Clayton both earned spots on the 2012-13 Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.

Henry who was selected as a member of the All-Defensive team became the first player in Charlotte history to secure a spot on that team since the 49ers joined the Atlantic 10.

The Charleston, W. Va. native averaged 2.8 steals per game and recorded 83 steals which is second in the league and seventh in the nation. He has recorded at least one steal in all but two games this season. Henry also averaged 4.1 defensive rebounds a game and matched his career-high in rebounds (11) in the A-10 regular season finale against Saint Joseph’s last week.

Clayton was named a member of the All-Rookie team, marking the second time that a Charlotte player has earned a spot on the All-Rookie team in consecutive seasons. Henry was an All-Rookie selection in the 2011-12 season.

Clayton, a 6’8 forward who leads the conference in field goal percentage (58.6) has averaged 8.1 points per game. The Thomasville, Ga. native has started in every game this season and recorded 13 double-digit games in scoring and four double-doubles. He leads the team in rebounds (6.2/game) which is 15th in the Atlantic 10. Clayton also ranks third in the conference in offensive rebounds per game with 3.1.

Charlotte earned the ninth seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and will face eighth seed Richmond in the first game of tournament on March 14 at noon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
