CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte softball team will go on the road for a pair of midweek doubleheaders against Campbell and UNCG beginning on Wednesday, March 13.

The 49ers (11-7 overall) visit Campbell (12-8) on Wednesday in Buies Creek. The first game of the doubleheader is set to begin at 4 p.m.  The all-time series between the Niners and Fighting Camels has remained very close throughout the years with the series tied 20-20-1. In their last meeting, Charlotte defeated Campbell 4-0 at the D.L. Phillips Complex in 2005.

Charlotte will travel to Greensboro on Thursday, March 14 to face the Spartans (17-3) in a pair of games beginning at 2 p.m. The 49ers lead the all-time series 42-32. Last season, Charlotte swept UNCG 14-2 and 11-9 at D.L. Phillips Complex.

However both Campbell and UNCG have posted great records at home this season. The Fighting Camels are 7-1 at home with their only loss coming from the hands of Morehead State. UNCG has dropped just two games at home to Samford and Marshall.

Charlotte’s offense has been consistent and is led by several players who have turned in stellar performances at the plate. As a team, Charlotte is hitting .340 whereas Campbell is batting .317 and UNCG sits at .275. Additionally, Charlotte’s offense is ranked 14th out of 292 schools in the first NCAA statistics report.

Katie Watkins who is 6-6 in the circle leads Charlotte with 56 strikeouts. Chelsea Lisikatos is 4-0 on the season and has produced a 2.18 earned run average.

Campbell is led by Courtney Roberts in the circle. She’s recorded five wins and has a team leading 34 strikeouts. Julia Callicutt has appeared in ten games for Campbell and recorded 31 strikeouts.

Raeanne Hanks, the Spartan’s ace pitcher has a 1.26 ERA and a team-high 71 strikeouts. Nicole Thomas and Kelly Lupton have also seen considerable time in the circle for UNCG.

Following Wednesday and Thursday’s games, Charlotte will open the Atlantic 10 schedule and host Fordham at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 at noon. Charlotte will also host George Washington on Sunday, March 24 for a doubleheader at noon.
