CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte women's tennis team was finally able to get back on the courts Thursday afternoon, but the 49ers suffered a 5-2 setback to visiting Elon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The Niners picked up their lone two points in singles action after the Phoenix captured the doubles point.

Elon (9-1) jumped in front 1-0 early by claiming victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles slots, wrestling the point away from the hosts.

Despite the deficit, Charlotte (6-3) was able to garner a triumph in one-third of the singles contests. Sophomore Lisa Grosselius handed Viviana Stavreva a 6-3, 6-4 setback at the No. 3 position, while senior Anna Ekelund tallied a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 10-6 win against Barbora Lazarova in the No. 5 meeting.

During the match, senior Ginny Johnson saw her first action of the spring playing at No. 3 doubles.

The 49ers return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they play host to UNC Asheville.
