Charlotte, NC - Darion Clark scored a career-high 17 points but the Charlotte 49ers (18-9, A-10: 6-7) lost to Dayton (15-12, A-10: 5-8), 88-67, in Halton Arena.

"You have to give Dayton credit they played great in the second half," Charlotte coach Alan Major said. "We're going to keep on fighting. I'm more concerned with how we respond. We still believe that we are a good team."

Clark scored a career-high 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 shooting from the line. He also grabbed eight rebounds in the game. Terrence Williams scored 15 points off the bench including connecting on two three-point field goals. Chris Braswell scored 10 points off the bench including connecting on his only three-point field goal attempt. Pierria Henry scored eight points and dished out four assists.

Dayton had five players in double-figures led by Devin Oliver's 16 points.

The 49ers finished the game with a 17-2 advantage in second chance points.

Charlotte began the game by scoring 10 of the first 12 points taking a 10-2 lead after Williams knocked down a three with 13:32 on the clock.

Then, Dayton went on a 14-4 run taking a 16-14 lead when Alex Gavrilovic scored inside with 8:59 on the clock.

Charlotte behind a basket by Williams and three by Braswell regained the lead 19-16.

Then, with the game tied at 24 with 2:59 left in the first half, the 49ers finished the half by scoring 10 of the half's final 15 points taking a 34-29 halftime lead. Ivan Benkovic, Willie Clayton, Williams, Henry and Braswell scored during the run.

Early in the second half, Charlotte's E. Victor Nickerson scored inside giving the 49ers a 39-33 lead with 18:56 left in the second half. Then,  Dayton took control of the game by going on a 23-6 run over the next six minutes taking a 56-45 lead with 12:41 left in the second half.
