The Charlotte 49ers (17-6, A-10: 5-4) return to the road when they travel to Indianapolis to face 10th -ranked Butler (20-4, A-10: 7-2), Wednesday, February 13 at 7 pm. The game is being broadcast on WISH TV/WNDY in Indianapolis. The game will air in the Charlotte area on Antenna TV on WJZY 46.2. Antenna TV can be found on Time Warner Cable 147 or 46.2. Antenna TV is also available on Comporium (120), Charter (80), SkyBest (262), ComPas (143), ComPas Morganton (113) and RST Fiber (8).
This game will be a homecoming for Charlotte coach Alan Major who is an Indianapolis native.
Chris Braswell, who scored a season-high 23 points in the 49ers last road game at Temple last Wednesday, leads the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game. Braswell is second on the team in rebounding at 5.6 boards per game. Pierria Henry, who recorded a career-high tying 11 rebounds against VCU last Saturday, averages 9.0 points per game. Henry leads the team in assists with 84 and steals with 64. Henry ranks among the nation's leaders in steals. Willie Clayton, who scored 12 points against VCU, averages 8.3 points per game. Clayton leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 boards per game. Terrence Williams, who recorded his seventh double-figure scoring game of the season with 13 points against VCU, averages 7.0 points per game.
Darion Clark, who recorded his fifth double-figure scoring game of the season with 11 points off the bench in the 49ers last road game at Temple, averages 6.4 points per game. Clark is third on the team in rebounding at 4.6 boards per game. Denzel Ingram, who has started 19 of the last 20 games, averages 6.4 points per game. Ingram scored 13 points on five-for-six shooting at Temple. E. Victor Nickerson, who has started the last three games, averages 5.7 points per game. Ivan Benkovic recorded his first career double-figure scoring game with 10 points off the bench against Massachusetts, February 2.
This game will mark the fourth meeting between Charlotte and Butler. The 49ers have two of the three previous meetings. The 49ers defeated Butler, 81-61, in their last meeting which came in the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, California, December 29, 1993. Andre Davis led the 49ers with 29 points. Delano Johnson dished out 14 assists in the game. Former 49ers assistant coach Bobby Kummer scored 17 points in that game. Butler defeated Charlotte, 87-84, in their only other meeting at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse, January 27, 1992. Henry Williams led the 49ers with 28 points in that game.
