CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte track and field team picked up 12 top five finishes at the Tiger Paw Invitational, hosted by Clemson on Friday evening.

Joann Blakney won the long jump with a season-best leap of 20’3. In only her second long jump appearance of the season, her mark is now second on the Charlotte all-time top ten list. Briauna Jones was second with a jump of 18’8.  

Blakney also dazzled in the 60m dash and finished second with another season-best time of 7.38.

LeAnna Morrsion led a trio of 49ers in the 60m hurdles. Morrision finished second (8.55), Juanita Leto was third (8.65), and Alvonna Blakney was seventh (8.73). Morrison’s time moves to third on the Charlotte all-time list and Leto’s time is tied for fifth. On the men’s side, Cordell Livingston was the fourth collegiate finisher and fifth overall with a season-best time of 8.01

In the 500m Charlotte placed two athletes in the top three. Jen Molke finished second (18:22.43) and Tiffany Lang took third with a time of 18:26.55. Molke and Lang each turned in season-best times. 

In the field events, the Niner men finished with some notable performances. Livingston competed in the long jump for the first time this season and was the third collegiate finisher with a team-best leap of 23’5 which is eighth on the all-time list. Joshua Dunston finished sixth overall (22’7).

Trey McRae was second in the high jump (6’7). Will Thomas made his debut in the high jump and finished eighth (6’2).

In the men’s 800m, Charlotte placed three in the top ten. Sean Kluttz lead the way and finished fourth (1:53.51), followed by Michael Tamayo in sixth (1:54.56), and Christian Norbye in tenth (1:55.31). Tamayo and Norbye each recorded season-best times. Rachel Miller was sixth in the women’s 800m (2:14.73).

T’Sheila Mungo finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.32. 

The Tiger Paw Invitational resumes on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. with the field events.
