NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the second time this season, and in her career, Charlotte women's basketball's senior forward Jennifer Hailey has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, as announced by the league office for Jan. 28. Hailey previously had been tabbed the weekly winner of the accolade Dec. 31, 2012.

Hailey, a product of Marshville, N.C., put together one of her better all-around games Sunday in leading the 49ers to a 71-54 victory at Saint Louis. She tallied 23 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked a career-high seven shots, approaching a triple-double, in lifting Charlotte to a 14-4 overall and 3-1 conference record.

She was a dominating factor on both ends of the floor, knocking down 11-of-19 field goals and controlling the paint, as nine of her 14 boards were on the defensive end.

On the season, her 11.4 rebounds per game are tops across the league, while her 15.5 scoring average ranks fourth among the league leaders. In Atlantic 10-games only, she sets the pace in both categories with 19.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest.

Hailey has extended her consecutive games streak with at least one blocked shot to 30 following Sunday's effort, while inching to within 10 of the school's all-time record in the category. She enters this week with 197 career rejections.

She has 13 double-doubles this season and 33 in her career, placing fourth in school history. Her 930 career rebounds also rank her fourth in program history, while her 1,235 career points slot her currently in 13th on the school's all-time chart.

Hailey becomes the program's 14th weekly recipient since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2005-06 and the third under head coach Cara Consuegra. She is the first two-time winner under Consuegra's watch.

She joins the rest of her Niners teammates as they return to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday by traveling to St. Bonaventure, N.Y., to face the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
