Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers men's soccer senior forward Jennings Rex was just picked by the Seattle Sounders in the fourth round of Major League Soccer's Supplemental Draft.

This past season, Rex led the 49ers with 11 goals. Rex's 11 goals were most goals by a Niner since Chris Salvaggione scored 15 goals in 2008. Rex recorded four multiple goal games this season. He scored two goals in the 49ers victories over Stony Brook, La Salle, Rhode Island and UAB in the NCAA Tournament. He scored game-winning goals against La Salle, Rhode Island and Butler.

During his career, Rex played an integral role in helping the 49ers reach the NCAA Tournament three times including a trip to the 2011 College Cup Championship game. He also helped the 49ers capture two Atlantic 10 regular-season titles in his career.

In 2009, Rex was named second-team freshmen All-American. He also was named to the A-10 All-Rookie team after scoring six goals in 2009.

Rex finished his career with 24 goals, three assists and 51 points.

With Donnie Smith getting drafted as the 21st  overall pick by the New England Revolution, the 49ers have two players taken in the MLS draft in each of the last two seasons. Last season, former 49ers standouts Evan James and Charles Rodriguez were picked the MLS Supplemental draft.
