CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte women's basketball team steps back into familiar territory Sunday at 2 p.m. when it plays host to Xavier in an Atlantic 10 meeting inside Halton Arena on National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

The 49ers bring a 12-4 overall and 1-1 Atlantic 10 ledger into the contest, the 13th overall in the series. Charlotte knocked off Rhode Island on the road Wednesday night, picking up its first conference victory in its final season competing in the league.

Three Niners reached double-figure scoring, while seniors Amanda Dowe and Jennifer Hailey each chipped in double-digit rebounds for a double-double apiece. Freshman Kira Gordon tallied double-figure points for the second time in her collegiate career.

Hailey moved into fourth place in two categories in program history, for rebounds and double-doubles. Dowe ranks ninth and eighth all-time in the respective statistics.

Charlotte's defense, which has limited five-straight opponents to 60 points or less, stymied the Rams by holding them to just 13 points in the second half.

Xavier owns a 6-10 overall and 0-2 league mark coming into Sunday's matchup. The Muskeeters, who are under the guidance of second-year head coach Amy Waugh, have dropped four-in-a-row since defeating Northern Illinois Dec. 28 at the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Va. Xavier's two A-10 setbacks, however, were by a combined six points.

Amber Gray is the lone Musketeer with a double-digit scoring average, at 11.1 points per game. Lakeisha Crouch tops the squad with 6.8 rebounds per contest; however, she along with Jessica Pachko and Jenna Crittendon are not scheduled to play Sunday, leaving XU with only seven active players.

Charlotte picked up a win last year, 58-54, in Cincinnati, which was head coach Cara Consuegra's inaugural A-10 contest. The victory snapped a six-game losing streak to the Musketeers and closed the series to just an 8-4 edge for XU.

Sunday's meeting will be video streamed live on Charlotte49ers.com with Josh Feldman handling play-by-play duties. Live stats are also available through the website, while updates can also be obtained by following @49erGameDay on Twitter.
