The Charlotte 49ers (14-2, A-10: 2-0) return to Halton Arena to play Fordham (5-12, A-10: 1-1), Wednesday, January 16 at 7:30 pm.
Chris Braswell leads the 49ers in scoring at 11.9 points per game. Braswell is second on the team in rebounding at 5.7 boards per game. Braswell is one of only eight players in school history with over 1,000 career points and over 750 career rebounds. DeMario Mayfield is second on the team in scoring at 10.9 points per game. Mayfield scored 17 points against Rhode Island for his tenth double-figure scoring game of the season. Pierria Henry, who grabbed 10 rebounds at Rhode Island, is tied for third on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game. Henry leads the team in assists with 56 and steals with 45. Henry ranks among the nation's leaders in steals. Willie Clayton is tied with Henry for third on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game. Clayton recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds at Rhode Island. Clayton leads the team in rebounding at 7.7 boards per game. Terrence Williams is fifth on the team in scoring at 7.3 points per game. Williams, who has started all 16 games this season, has recorded five double-figure scoring games this year.
Darion Clark is sixth on the team in scoring at 6.6 points per game. Clark is third on the team in rebounding at 5.4 boards per game. Denzel Ingram, who has started the last 13 games, is seventh on the team in scoring at 6.4 points per game. E. Victor Nickerson, who has given the 49ers quality minutes off the bench, averages 5.2 points per game. JT Thompson has given the 49ers quality minutes off the bench this season as well. He averages 4.2 points per game. Ivan Benkovic has knocked down at least one three point field goal in five games this season.
This game will mark the 10th meeting between Charlotte and Fordham. The 49ers have won eight of the nine previous meetings including four straight. The 49ers are 4-0 against Fordham in Halton Arena. Last season, the 49ers defeated Fordham, 69-62, on the road, February 4. Braswell recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Mayfield also had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in that game. Charlotte defeated Fordham, 71-61, in their last meeting in Halton Arena, January 15, 2011. Former Niner Derrio Green led the 49ers with 21 points. Braswell scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in that game.
