Mikel Hunter was named a graduate assistant in July, 2014.
Hunter, who started all 11 games of 2013, was one of the 49ers leading receivers of the inaugural season. Selected as a team captain for the inaugural game, Hunter had 45 receptions for 551 yards with two TD catches during the first season. His 53-yard TD reception in the 49ers win at Presbyterian is the 49ers longest. He also had a 96-yard kick-off return for a TD against Chowan, another 49ers record. He led the 49ers in return yardage for both punts and kickoffs and topped the 49ers with 1138 all-purpose yards.
He became the first 49ers football alum to earn a collegiate coaching position with the 49ers.
He graduated in December, 2013 with a degree in history.

First Team FCS Independent all-Conference by collegesportsmadness.com ... a team captain for five games on year, including Senior Day vs. Wesley, Nov. 9 and season-finale vs. Morehead State, Nov. 2 ... earned Dean's List honors (3.4 GPA or higher) in Spring, 2013 ... graduated in December, 2013.
At Air Force: made 14 starts as a sophomore and junior ... made 19 catches in his 39-game, three-year career for 350 yards and three touchdowns ... added 32 rushes for 380 yards and three touchdowns. 2012: was third on the team as a junior with 14 catches for 244 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown reception vs. South Dakota and a 34-yard touchdown grad vs. Tennessee State ... In that season-opening South Dakota game, he also had an 80-yard touchdown run on Air Force's first offensive play of the year - the fourth-longest run in school history. 2011: In his sophomore year, he had two carries for 34 yards in the Independence Bowl victory vs. Georgia Tech.
At Heritage H.S.: Earned four letters in track and two letters in football.
Brad Lambert on bringing Hunter into program: "He's a senior wideout that brings alot of speed to the table. He has a lot of experience playing at a high level at Air Force. We can throw him the ball or hand him the ball - he's done both for them. We're excited to have him join our program."
