ANCHORAGE, AK - The Charlotte 49ers (3-0) are playing in the Great Alaska Shootout for the first time in school history over the Thanksgiving Holiday, November 21-24. First, the 49ers will play Texas State (2-1) in the final game of the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout, Thursday, November 22 at 11:30 pm. The game will be broadcast nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

Joining Charlotte and Texas State in the Shootout are UC Riverside, Northeastern, Belmont, Loyola Marymount, Oral Roberts and the host team Alaska Anchorage. Of the eight teams in the Great Alaska Shootout, the 49ers traveled the farthest to get to the Anchorage, Alaska as it is 3,441 miles from Charlotte to Anchorage.

The last time the 49ers were in action, Charlotte defeated Lamar, 70-49, in Halton Arena, last Saturday, to begin the season 3-0 for the ninth time in school history and the first time since the 1995-96 season. Denzel Ingram led the 49ers with 16 points. DeMario Mayfield scored 12 points and Terrence Williams added 10 points. Chris Braswell scored nine points. Darion Clark and Willie Clayton led the 49ers with seven rebounds.

Braswell leads the 49ers in scoring at 15 points per game. He also leads the 49ers in rebounding at 7.5 boards per game. Mayfield is second on the team in scoring at 12 points per game. Williams round out the 49ers double-figure scorers as he averages 11.7 points per game.
