Nearly 2500 fans turned out for the 49ers football team's Fall Finale - and they were treated to a show that included five touchdowns. Alan Barnwell rushed for a pair, Karsten Miller threw for two and Austin Duke took a reverse six yards for a score.
Barnwell rushed for 116 yards on 16 carries. After scoring on a 4 yard run, he burst through on a 47-yard rush that led to his second touchdown, on a one-yard run.
The 49ers first touchdown came after Matt Johnson hit Jamel Ross for a 21-yard gain. That set the stage for Duke's reverse from the six.
After Barnwell's first score, Karsten Miller hit Darius Smalls for a 24-yard touchdown. He then threw a 43-yarder to Ja'quil Capel for the day's final score.
"Barnwell's a great runner - a great physical back. I feel like we've got some playmakers with Ja'quil, Will Thomas and Austin Duke." said 49ers head coach Brad Lambert about the 49ers' offensive firepower. "I feel like we've got some guys. One thing that's real exciting is that we have some playmakers out there and our offensive line is playing extremely hard."
Miller connected on 6-of-8 passed and ended the day with 105 yards. Johnson and Lee McNeill both hit 9-of-10 passes. Johnson had 83 yards and McNeill 63. Capel caught five passes for 98 yards.
Defensively, Larry Ogunjobi has six tackles and Desmond Cooper and Alex Petzke both had five tackles. Nico Alcalde recorded 1.5 sacks and Ogunjobi and Brandon Banks each had one sack.
"Our secondary has really down a nice job of hawking the ball," Lambert added. "The last 2, 3 scrimmages we've come out and turned the ball over and gotten the ball. We've got to take care of it on offense and got to force turnovers with our defense. That's one big stat. We have some playmakers in all the right spots."
