CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers women's basketball makes its first road trip of the season when it travels to Fort Worth, Texas, for an 8 p.m. (Eastern) tip Wednesday against Big 12-foe TCU. It marks the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools and former Conference USA opponents.

Charlotte opened the campaign by a dominating 80-31 performance at home Saturday against North Carolina Central, allowing the second-fewest points in the program's 38-year history and the lowest total under head coach Cara Consuegra.

The senior trifecta of Amanda Dowe, Jai Forney and Jennifer Hailey, a Preseason All-Atlantic 10 First Team honoree, each reached double-figure scoring to lead the balanced offensive attack. Hailey also hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds for her 21st career double-double.

In the process, Consuegra became just the third head coach in school history to win back-to-back season openers in his or her first two seasons at the helm of the program, joining Ed Baldwin and Amanda Butler.

The 49-point margin of victory tied for the 13th largest in school history and set a new mark for the Consuegra era.

TCU has not played yet this season; however, the Horned Frogs are under the direction of 14th-year head coach Jeff Mittie. The school is playing its first season in the Big 12 after most recently being a member of the Mountain West.

TCU finished its season a year ago with a 16-14 ledger, identical to the record posted by Charlotte. Natalie Ventress earned Mountain West Freshman of the Year accolades last year after ranking among the Top 15 rookie scorers across the country. She is one of four starters and eight letterwinners returning the club this season.

The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series 4-2, having won each of the last four meetings. The two teams have not played since 2005, when both schools were Conference USA members.
