CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Behind five players in double-figures and three players with double-doubles, the Charlotte 49ers cruised past Pfeiffer, 95-51, in an exhibition game in Halton Arena, Thursday evening.

"It was great to be back in Halton Arena," Charlotte coach Alan Major said. "I was pleased with our effort. I was also pleased with our unselfish play with 19 assists on 28 field goals. We also rebounded the basketball tonight with three players with double figure rebounds."

Freshman Darion Clark exploded all over the court for the Niners, recording 19 points and 12 rebounds to notch a double-double. Clark was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and hit nine free throws. Freshman Willie Clayton also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Terrence Williams contributed 16 points, while freshman Mike Thorne also tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Denzel Ingram added 13 points.

Sophomore Pierria Henry displayed his playmaker skills, finishing with a game-high five assists and six steals. The 49ers recorded 19 assists and 13 steals in the win. Nine different players scored for Charlotte, allowing its bench to score 37 points.

Charlotte enjoyed a 56-37 advantage on the glass. The 49ers seized opportunities off  Pfeiffer's 28 turnovers and scored 37 points. The Niners' presence was felt down low as they scored 44 points in the paint.

Charlotte controlled the first half taking a 47-28 lead at halftime. The Niners got off to a slow start after trailing 6-0 to the Falcons. That didn't last long as Clark's layup sparked a 10-0 run to push Charlotte to a 10-6 advantage with 15:04 remaining. The Niners never trailed again and continued to use a dominating defense that caused 13 Pfeiffer turnovers in the first half.

Clark was 3-for-3 from the field and 6-8 from the free throw line en route to 12 points in the first half. He also grabbed nine rebounds. Clayton and Nickerson recorded seven points each. Ingram also put up seven points, with six coming from behind the 3-point arc.

Pfeiffer placed two players in double digits. Tayron Gibson led the Falcons with 13 points and Josh Humphrey recorded 10.

The 49ers are back in action on Friday, Nov. 9 when they host Charleston Southern in their season opener at 6 p.m. in Halton Arena.
