Charlotte volleyball will finish the home portion of the 2012 schedule this weekend, with a Friday night home match against No. 14 Dayton at 7 p.m. and the home finale against Xavier on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The four outgoing senior members of the team will be honored in a pre-match ceremony before Sunday's contest. The 49ers enter play at 10-13 on the season, 2-9 in league play. Charlotte has won two of its last four A-10 matches.
Friday is Free Youth Night, with all you 17 and under gaining free admission. Friday is also Faculty/Staff Night. All UNC Charlotte faculty and staff members will receive free admission with valid University ID.
This will be the last 11 meetings with the Flyers in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Charlotte won the first meeting in 2005, but has lost the last nine in the series. Dayton is 20-4 on the season and in first place in the league with an 11-0 mark.
Charlotte has not defeated Xavier as a member of the Atlantic 10, but won two of the first three meetings in tournament play before the 49ers joined the A-10 in 2005. The Musketeers are 11-0 against Charlotte in league matches, including a pair of A-10 Tournament meetings in the series at the end of the 2006 and 2009 seasons. Xavier enters the weekend at 17-9, tied with VCU in second in the league at 9-2.
Charlotte co-captains Bianca Rouse (Columbia, S.C. / Keenan HS) and junior Amanda Videmsek (Highland Heights, Ohio / Beaumont School) are seventh and eighth in the league in kills per set. Rouse has averaged a 3.39 kills-per-set tally, with Videmsek at 3.34 this season. Senior setter Lily Vera (Anderson, S.C. / Stone Bridge HS) is one of four setters in the conference with more than 10 assists per set. She is third in the A-10 at 10.72 per set. Senior libero Jenna Litoborski (Lemont, Ill.) is fourth in the conference at 4.43 digs per set in 2012.
The Flyers lead the league in hitting percentage and kills. Megan Campbell is the league leader in attack percentage (.415) and Rachel Krabacher leads the league with 4.59 kills per set.
Xavier's Alex Smith is second in the league with a .376 attack percentage, with Aubree Smith tied for second at 0.35 aces per set this season. Stephanie Vorherr is second in the league at 4.89 digs per set.
