Charlotte, NC- The nationally-ranked Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team (10-2-3) (14th in College Soccer and Soccer America and 22nd in NSCAA polls) plays #13 Saint Louis (11-3-0, A-10: 5-1-0) and Butler (4-6-5, A-10: 2-3-1) on the road this weekend, October 26-28. First, the 49ers play Saint Louis on the road, Friday, October 26 at 8 pm. Saint Louis is currently first in the Atlantic 10. While, Charlotte is tied for second place in the A-10 with VCU. Then, the 49ers face Butler on the road, Sunday, October 28 at 1 pm.  

Giuseppe Gentile, who earned several player of the week honors this week, and Jennings Rex, who scored two goals in the 49ers win over Rhode Island last Sunday, are tied for the team lead with seven goals apiece. Donnie Smith is third on the team with three goals. Tyler Gibson, Aidan Kirkbride, Kyle Parker, Anthony Perez and Owen Darby, who scored two goals in the 49ers win over Massachusetts last Friday, have all scored two goals on the season. Isaac Caughran leads the 49ers with five assists. Gibson and Gentile are tied for second on the team with four assists apiece.

The 49ers defense behind the play of goalkeeper Klay Davis and defenders Perez, Thomas Allen, Nick Barnhorst, David Mayer, Aaron Weldon and Biko Bradnock-Brennan has been stellar this season. The 49ers have recorded seven shutouts and limited 12 foes to a goal or less this season.

Friday's game will mark the 22nd meeting between Charlotte and Saint Louis, who leads the all-time series 12-6-3. The 49ers have won the last three meetings between the two teams including the last two meetings at Saint Louis. Charlotte defeated Saint Louis, 2-1, in double overtime in their last meeting which came on the road, November 5, 2011. Kirkbride scored both of the 49ers goals in the victory.

Sunday's game will mark the first ever meeting between Charlotte and Butler.
