Charlotte volleyball played to another tight opening, but fell late to Saint Louis 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-15) on Sunday at Halton Arena in Atlantic 10 Volleyball action. It was the third match in the team's current five-match home stand. The loss drops the 49ers to 8-11 overall, 0-7 in league play. The Billikens improve to 7-14, 2-5 in the A-10.
The teams played a tight opening set, with nine ties and five lead changes. The 49ers found an early 5-0 surge to take a 10-5 lead, but the Billikens were able to reel it back in with a pair of 3-0 runs in the middle going. The Niners led as late as 19-18 but three-straight SLU points gave the Billikens the lead for good in the opening frame.
SLU scored the first two points of the second set and Charlotte never got the score to a tie in that set and the Billikens trailed only at 1-0 in the third, holding Charlotte to a zero hit percentage in the last stanza.
