For the third-straight season, Charlotte volleyball set a single-match attendance record on Dig Pink night, but the 49ers lost the match in four sets to visiting Butler 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-16, 25-14) at Halton Arena in Atlantic 10 Conference action. Charlotte has lost seven in a row and sits at 8-10, 0-6 in league play, while the Bulldogs improve to 12-8, 2-4 in conference.

The Dig Pink match is the 11th Annual fundraiser for breast cancer awareness at Charlotte. The jerseys worn by the 49ers in tonight's match are a part of an online auction that ends on October 18 (click here for details.)

Charlotte came out to the energy of the crowd and took the opening set 26-24, leading by as many as five in the frame. Senior Bianca Rouse (Columbia, S.C. / Keenan HS) posted half of her team-high 14 kills in the opening set.

There were 13 ties in the second set, with Charlotte's three-point lead of 22-19 the largest margin in the stanza. Butler's Maggie Harbison posted six of her match-high 15 kills in the second set.

Charlotte was held to a .074 attack percentage in the third and had only four kills in the fourth set as the Bulldogs closed out the match. The Bulldogs have held opponents to a .161 attack percentage, third-best in the league. Charlotte was held to just a .123 attack percentage Thursday night.

Rouse broke out of a tie for ninth on Charlotte's all-time kills list. She now stands alone in ninth with 1,186 for her career. Her nine digs nearly gave her an eighth double-double this season. Senior libero Jenna Litoborski (Lemont, Ill.) had the match-high total of 14 digs, with freshman Michelle Hovey (Raleigh, N.C. / Lighthouse) adding 13. Senior setter Lily Vera finished with 38 assists after recording 15 in the opening set.

The 49ers will host the third of this current five-match home stand on Sunday, with a 1 p.m. match versus Saint Louis.
