Following fall break, Charlotte baseball hits the field again Tuesday with an afternoon practice in preparation for the end of fall practice. The team will go through weights and conditioning Wednesday before open practice scrimmage sessions this coming weekend. The 49ers will hit the field for pregame warm-ups Friday at 1:30 ahead of Saturday and Sunday 11:30 a.m. pregame sessions. Before Saturday's team session, the club will make its final fall appearance at the Miracle League at the University YMCA.

The program will invite alums in town for Alumni Weekend, starting with a baseball social at Picasso's University, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 19. The team will hold a tailgate at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. before a 1:30 p.m. scrimmage at the ballpark. Any baseball alum who is planning on attending should contact David Jandrew at 704-687-1049.

The fall team practice phase concludes with the Niner World Series, a three-game slate of final scrimmages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 26-28. Game times are still to be announced for those afternoons.

Head Coach Loren Hibbs will be making a public appearance Wednesday of this week at the third-annual "Jail and Bail" as part of Dig Pink. He, along with other campus celebrities, will be held Wednesday in front of the Student Union and will solicit passers-by to raise his "Bail" in order for him to be released during that period. He is participating in the volleyball program's fundraiser for breast cancer research and awareness, which is reaching its 11th season.

The 49ers begin the season at home for the first of 36 scheduled home dates on February 15, against visiting Delaware State for the opening-weekend series. The 49ers will also be the host institution for the 2013 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championships, schedule for May 22-25.
