Davidson, N.C. - The 49ers captured three flights titles at the Jim Causey Invitational at Davidson College. Jordi Massalle Ferrer continued his strong play by capturing the Flight Three singles title. The doubles team of Jack Williams and Forrest Edwards captured the Flight One Doubles title. The doubles team of Massalle Ferrer and Alex Weber captured the Flight Three singles title.
In Flight Three singles, Massalle Ferrer defeated Davidson's Roger Irigoyen Berlanga, 6-2, 6-3. Then, he defeated Davidson's Chris Mark, 6-1, 6-3. Massalle Ferrer went 3-0 this weekend at Flight Three singles to capture the Flight title.
In other singles action, in Flight One, Charlotte's Williams lost to Campbell's Fernando Guillen, 6-3, 7-6 (5). Then, he lost to Davidson's Joe Schafer, 6-4, 6-4.
In Flight Two singles, Charlotte's Alex Calott lost to Campbell's Adrien Rossignon in three hard fought sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6. Then, he lost to Davidson's Nicky Kunz in three hard fought sets, 4-6, 6-0, 12-10.
In Flight Four singles, Charlotte's Paul Cisti defeated Campbell's David Clavera, 6-3, 6-4. Then, he lost to Davidson's Robert Lightbourn in three tough sets, 7-5, 2-6, 10-3.
In Flight Five singles, Charlotte's Edwards defeated Campbell's Josep Baro, 6-0, 6-1. Then, he lost to Davidson's Connor Evins, 2-6, 7-6 (6), 10-6.
In Flight Six singles, Charlotte's Nate Shanok defeated Campbell's James Jones, 6-3, 6-2. Then, he lost to Davidson's Alex Howard, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
In Flight Seven singles, Charlotte's Weber lost to Campbell's Ondrej Kralik, 6-2, 6-2. Then, he lost to Davidson's Ethan Kallick, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
In Flight Eight singles, Charlotte's Hector Linares lost to Davidson's Daniel Reitten, 6-2, 6-2. Then, he lost to Davidson's Kevin Moore, 6-0, 6-0.
In Flight One doubles, Charlotte's Williams and Edwards defeated Appalachian State's Sebastien King and Zeke Sansing, 8-5, to capture the Flight One doubles title.
In Flight Two doubles, Charlotte's Cisti and Calott lost to Appalachian State's Zach Bost and Carson Greve, 8-4.
In Flight Three doubles, Charlotte's Massalle Ferrer and Weber defeated Appalachian State's Steve Lake and Robert Jenkins, 8-3, to capture the Flight Three doubles title.
In Flight Four doubles, Charlotte's Linares and Shanok lost to Appalachian State's Tyler Pyle and Michael Smith, 8-5.
The 49ers return to action at the ITA Carolinas Regional in Cary, North Carolina, Thursday, October 18.
