Charlotte posted season lows for points in a match in a 3-0 loss (25-8, 25-10, 25-18) at Duquesne Sunday in Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball action. The 49ers slip to 8-6, 0-2 in league play, while the Dukes are 13-5 and off to a 2-0 start in conference.

For just the second match of her career, senior Bianca Rouse (Columbia, S.C. / Keenan HS) did not play after an injury in Friday's match. That ended a run of 74-straight matches for the team's leading offensive player in which she has played. In addition, the Niners lost senior libero Jenna Litoborski in the second set, also to injury. A pair of freshmen, middle Mireya Braxton (Charlotte, N.C. / Providence HS) and Carly Ochs (Town and Country, Mo. / St. Joseph's Academy) led the team with four kills each.

Senior Lily Vera (Anderson, S.C. / Stone Bridge HS) posted a season-low 15 assists as Charlotte could not get the offense going in the road match. Freshman Michelle Hovey (Raleigh, N.C. / Lighthouse) led the 49ers with 12 digs.

Charlotte will take the week to heal up and ready for another conference road trip, starting with a Friday match at Fordham, beginning at 7 p.m. The team is anticipating that both injured seniors will return for the weekend.
